Comparison of Common Fleet Cars

There are a lot of variables to consider when deciding which car to provide for sales reps and there are many to choose from. We put together a quick look at four popular choices and considered initial cost, MPG and previous resale value. While there are other factors to consider, this is a quick guide to provide some insight to those considering fleet vehicles to their sales people.

We considered two Toyotas (Camry and Corolla), the Honda Civic and the Ford Escape (small SUV). We priced the base trim model in each vehicle and only added the cost of basic packages where this seemed to make sense. The Camry and the Escape were priced similarly witht the Camry slightly less expensive. However, the Camry was the clear MPG winner. For those regularly driving long distances, this could make a real difference in fuel costs.

Resale value was fairly similar for the sedans. The Ford Escape was the clear loser in terms of resale value.
